The fauna in Val di Sole

Meadows, forests and mountains of the Val di Sole reserve to the silent and attentive observer pleasing and unexpected encounters. As long as you avoid brusque movements and noise, you will have no difficulty in seeing hares and roes, marmots and chamois, foxes, weasels, pine martens, badgers, squirrels, all animals which are peculiar to the alpine landscape of the Dolomites. The luckier visitors can even see the majestic deer, still very shy and prudent to show off.

Besides the many butterflies, it is possible to admire the outnumbering bird species, both resident and migratory. Just to quote some of them: tits, goldfinches, redstarts, redbreasts, siskin, chaffinch, swallows, thrushes, etc. The more there are nuthatches, wallcreepers and other kinds of woodpeckers like the pied, the green, and the great black woodpecker and many others. More difficult to watch are certainly the owls, since they are nocturnal birds.

In the woods we can even find the grouse. In addition there are many nutcrackers, magpies, alpine choughs, crows and ravens. Among the birds of prey we can watch the kestrel, the sparrow hawk, the buzzard, the goshawk and obviously not missing is the "queen of the sky" the golden eagle, emblem of the Stelvio National Park, which can be found in Val di Rabbi and Val di Peio.
